As an independent brand since 1981, we have the benefit of being able to select our own path and our own way of doing things. As part of our continuing drive toward sensible and sustainable production we have turned the dial up again on our custom-made service.

Making Custom-Made shoes is no easy task, but we have taken the experience that we have gained over the last 15 years and reconfigured our manufacturing at the factory to manage the custom-made orders.

Design your own Underground footwear – Create your own version by selecting each part of the upper, choosing the material and the colour from the material library. Then select the sole height. You can go back and change any part before you make your final choice.

We have stock of soles, materials and components on hand to make sure that we can get your order straight into production.

We are continously adding new style options to this Design section, so please check regularly to view the latest range.

Creating your Custom Made Design.......so how does it work?

You can select from the styles that we have made available, but it does not stop there. Most of the styles that we produce from our Originals collection – the Creepers, Steel Caps and Winklepickers can also be Custom Made in other combinations that in some cases have never been made before.

Creepers – all the colours and materials can be inter-changed between single, double and triple soles. Material combinations can be inter-changed between the different styles – for example if you see a combination on the Wulfrun and would like that as a King Tuts, then yes, we can do that.

Steel Caps – Similarly, we can interchange styles and soles on the Steel Cap collection.

Winklepicker Collection – Similarly, we can interchange styles and soles on most of the Winklepicker collection.

To Order – Use the Configurator to choose the sole, the material, the colours together with buckle, laces and trim.

Choose a Sole

Select the sole height that you would like. You can choose single, double, or triple sole heights on all the Original Creeper and Original Steel Cap Styles.

Yes you can with the exception of all boots with External Steel Caps can only be produced on a single sole.

Also interchangeable sole heights are not available in the Winklepicker collection.

Choose the Leather

We have a huge selection of leathers, fabrics, and vegan friendly options to choose from. You can see most of the leathers and fabrics on the configurator.

Most materials can be used on most styles but there are some restrictions according to the construction limitations and some design limitations that we impose.

Non leather options are available on request.

For some styles you can choose combinations of materials with one material for the body of the creeper for example and another material or colour for the apron of the creeper.

Choose Buckles, Laces and Trims

For those shoes and boots with buckles and metal trims there are options to change from a silver finish to gold or gunmetal finish.

You can see some examples below of different options.

Choose the UK Size

Please use our Size Chart to select the UK Size that you need.

Other than UK Size 5.5 on most styles and UK Size 4.5 on limited styles we do not offer half-sizes.

We are unable to offer options on Width fittings.

What is the cost of my Custom Design footwear?

The initial cost shown in the Configurator for a given style is the standard cost for this style supplied in White Leather.The final cost is calculated according to your personal choice of sole depth, materials and colour(s) and will be displayed, together with the Shipping cost at the Checkout These costs include VAT (if applicable) to the shipping destination).

When do I pay for my order?

As we are making a bespoke special style in a specific size, we will require full payment at the time you place the order online.

How long does it take to produce my order?

We need sufficient time to procure the quality materials and entere the order into our special production schedule. Therefore we will need between 8 – 10 weeks to produce your order. On occasions that time can be longer, so do let us know if you have a special date or deadline.

Can I Cancel or Exchange my order for different UK Size?

This is a Custom-Made Product and following our confirmation of your order to you we are unable to accept cancellation or refund of payment.

All our footwear is manufactured and sold in UK Sizes. For guidance we have prepared a Chart and some additional information according to each collection.

If, after receiving your order, you find the UK Size is unsuitable we will exchange your custom-made order for an alternative UK Size in your custom-made style.

Where are the shoes made?

All custom-made orders are produced in family-owned factories here in the UK, Europe or Asia with most upper materials and components produced in the local economy.

How does my custom-made order help with sustainable production?

By ordering custom-made footwear you are helping to reduce the waste associated with over production. The footwear is made specifically for you in the UK Size that you ordered meaning that energy consumption is minimalised and there is no overstocking of footwear that sit on the shelf.
