Cherry Red Leather boots have a very special place in the heart of subculture. Cherry leather had been the only really alternative to black when the boots were the staple of workers in the factories, foundries and mills in the first half of the 20th Century.

Appropriated by subcultures the cherry leather or Oxblood work boot became a staple for skinheads and then punks and oi punks. They would scour workwear stores and army surplus stores for the cherry red leather boots including leather sole versions and the iconic Monkey boot and they would then be worn on the football terraces (minus the laces removed courtesy of the police), bank holiday runs out to seaside towns and at gigs and gatherings.
