Steel caps were born from necessity, forged in Britain’s factories, foundries, and workshops, where protection mattered more than polish. Worn by workers, taken up by the army, and claimed by the working class, they later became the uniform of skinheads, punks, and every movement that refused to play safe. From terrace culture to underground music scenes, steel caps have always carried weight, attitude, and intent. Today, their thick soles, reinforced toes, and uncompromising silhouette remain unchanged, functional, androgynous, and built for people who stand their ground. This is boot season, the steel cap way.

Our brand outpost in Hong Kong takes us to a city that has long been familiar territory for Underground. With a retail presence in Hong Kong stretching back almost as far as the brand itself, it is a place where our roots run deep. The outpost continues through 2025 with an extended residency, showcasing a curated selection of classic Underground styles alongside featured products and worldwide exclusives available only in Hong Kong. Fresh arrivals will be introduced throughout the autumn season.

WINKLEPICKERS
Winklepickers, were originally known as “poulaines” when these shoes were worn as a fashion and social statement. The longer the point of your shoe – then the higher your social status. The term Winklepicker was derived from using a sharp, pointed object to prise the sea-winkle from its shell.
The Underground Winklepicker Shoe and Boots styles uses an original 1950’s last shape on these classic Allgender styles.

THE APOLLO
CREEPER
The Apollo Creeper was not only one of the first styles to be produced by Underground, but its 001-code number tells you that was the first style in our Originals Collection.
Built on a sharp toe last named Meteor, this Leather Creeper is technically known as a monk shoe, a term used to describe the single buckle feature.
An Allgender Creeper, a style championed by Underground, the leather and leopard print option is produced from size 2 to 15 making it available for all the rock’n’rollers of this world.
